In Search of Truth (Part 1)

We have all been hurt. We have all hurt others.

Lamentation 3:40 Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD.

2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?

1. Starting as early as you can remember, who were the people in your life that hurt you?

2. Was there anything you did to bring on that hurt, or were they solely responsible?

3. What was your reaction to that hurt? Did you forgive them, hold on to a grudge, or try to seek your own revenge?

4. Is there any way you could have altered your reaction to the hurt?

5. Starting as early as you can remember, who were the people in your life that you hurt?

6. Did they do something first that hurt you, or were you acting without provocation?

7. Who have you hurt the worst? Arrange your list of those you hurt in the order of the most damage to the least.

8. What was your reaction when you first realized you had hurt each person?

9. What have you done to rectify the problem caused by your hurtful actions?

10. Is there anything you could do to make restitution?

Are you afraid of what you might find? Is there a skeleton in your closet?

So tell me what YOU think, is this a TRUTH OR LIE?

"It does no good to look back or look inside."

Comments:
lie.

It is a lie.
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. How do you learn without looking back and deciding what you could have done better. Don't dwell on wishing you could have done better, but look at it, learn from it, and move on. You will remember what you did wrong, and will correct it next time!

For so long I carried the hurt. I thought I had buried it, I thought it was gone when I accepted Christ as my Savior. Then I saw Frank Peretti's "Wounded Spirit" on Sky Angel. Before the show was over I had tears streaming down my face. I purchased and read the book, couldn't put it down and realized I needed to forgive all the people who have done wrong to me and whom I have done wrong to. Many years have gone and I was not able to return back to those days, but I had to return (mentally) and ask forgiveness for hurting them and forgive those who have hurt me. Only then could I be released from the bondage.

Review: What drives a person to do the unthinkable? In Frank's first
non-fiction work, he examines the pain from his past and helps us uncover the scars in our own lives. Drawing from tragic news stories, he illustrates how such ridicule and rejection push people beyond the brink. Then with poignant insight, Frank Peretti shows us the way to heal the wounded spirit that actually lies within us all.

First of all Hawkman quit making up words, you know how I feel about that. But this is not my blog therefore since there is no smudge I will not Pudge! Secondly Jimmy, I completely agree that it is a lie. Those of us who have been saved by the blood of Jesus have already been forgiven for any and all transgressions but there are still consequences to deal with. The key word there is deal! Not bury, not hide, not wallow but deal with the issues from our past that still haunt us. Then we can be free to become who God wants us to be. B4T
